Surely occupying one of the best situations in London, The Parkwood is a gracious small hotel. Though only five minutes' walk from busy, noisy Marble Arch and Oxford Street,it is a world away in this quiet street which opens onto all the splendour of Hyde Park. The front door opens into an attractive hallway and thence the charming lounge with its pink sofas, plants and candy striped wallpaper. Many of the bedrooms have recently been re-decorated with pretty papers and prints and all have satellite television, radio-alarms and tea/coffee makers. Some rooms are non-smoking. Bathrooms are nice though a little old-fashioned, having tubs and hand-showers, not power showers. The Parkwood is under the same ownership as the Edward Lear as one notices by the same coral walls in the breakfast room, the hand-written menus exhorting one to 'Eat, relax and enjoy' and even the artists' gallery of paintings by visiting children. Once again a very, and deservedly, popular small hotel, so we urge prospective visitors to book early, if possible.' Budget prices that are surprisingly low for such a good location. Prices that include a full English breakfast, tax and service. All rooms are very comfortable with TV, free satellite, radio, tea/coffee, direct-dial phone, etc. Walking distance to theatres, central shops and tourist sites.
