  • Nice art in dining room
  • Everything else

“$2.00 per day booking fee is horrible. An surprise $5.50 per day parking fee is strange, better cheaper higher star are available. I stay in 80 hotel rooms per year. This was a rip off.”

  • Location.
  • Noisy air -conditioner rattled loudly all night (even over TV). Rooms not great. Staff overcharged us.

“ Staff put a hold on my credit card for the cost of the room at check-in, despite me explaining to her - multiple times - that it had already been paid. I was fine with them putting a small hold on for incidentals (though the Hilton Midtown NYC didn't feel that was necessary). However, they put a hold on for incidentals PLUS the cost of the room (at a higher rate than what I'd booked it for, to boot). In short, it's a lousy hotel. It's noisy and while it's technically clean, it's deteriorating and in need of a lot of work. Stay elsewhere. ”

  • Inexpensive.

“The hotel needed updating, the beds where uncomfortable and the rooms didn't feel clean. We found hairs in both our beds. The staff wasn't particularly friendly and they charged us a booking fee.”

  • Easy walk to PSU campus and Main Street, underground parking, excellent breakfast (blueberry pancakes and fruit plate.)
  • Onsite fitness room had limited machines.

“Staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean and spacious.”

  • Location.
  • Hotel staff were miserable to deal with specifically the front desk personnel. We felt like we were bothering them.

“Rooms need updating. Bathroom was dirty and moldy. The air conditioning unit was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep. The front desk personnel were unfriendly and never at the desk. Stood there for 15 mins to check in while the personnel were on the phone in a side office. We were totally ignored each time we had to go to the front desk and I believe we were dealing with the front desk manager. We were also charged a $2.00 booking charge by the hotel and a parking fee on top of the priceline charges. Not sure why we were asked to pay them a booking fee.”

  • Convenience.
  • Beds are old and too hard.

“My experience here was not horrible, it was just average. For a quick visit to the college, it was fine. The main reason I didn't like it was the beds were so uncomfortable. Also, they offer very little amenities, just adding a little personal touch like that goes a long way.”

  • Nothing.

“ Clean and comfortable for either couples or families traveling to the State College area. Great place to stay for business travelers. ”

  • Artistic deco and good location.
  • Had to ask more than twice for extra cot in room then got charged 3x for one night use.

“Liked the location and setting in the college-town.”

  • Good location for PSU.
  • Busy road outside.

“ In general, it's a nice hotel with very good location. We had a nice breakfast in the restaurant with our niece and it was definitely a great experience. The restaurant waiter was a nice college student. The lobby was well decorated, but access to the lobby is a little inconvenient as it's on the 2nd floor. Parking was strange because of its narrow lanes, but it's OK when there are just few cars. ”

  • Location to downtown State College was good.
  • Extra fees added on @ check in & no maid service 2 days.

“ My hotel room was not cleaned for two of the six nights that I was there. Staff claimed that Do Not Disturb sign was posted. This is not true, Do Not Disturb sign was removed by 10:00 a.m. on the first night, and was not posted at all 2nd night. ”

  • I liked the location and the cleanliness.
  • The parking in the garage was very tight.

“The hotel was perfect for our stay. I would love to get this hotel again the next time I bid!”

  • The hot water was very hot.
  • Everything else was just not up to par for a business traveler.

“The Atherton Hotel was a simple nickel and dime hotel. The hotel doesn't have internet in the room unless you pay for it. The staff was not that friendly and didn't mention when I was checking in that if I wanted to check out early I would have to pay 250.00. I think the Days inn down the road and the Super offer in room internet for free and their rooms were cheaper. I will never stay at this location again and it's too bad because I visit at least 3-4 times a year for a week each time.”
