• It was in a great location.
• It has smoking rooms.

“Other than the fact that I am not a smoker and I was put in a smoking room, it was a nice hotel. I would stay there again if I could get a non-smoking room.”

• Close to everything.
• Room didn't smell very good.

“Overall, a good place to stay, had a few problems with the room, didn't smell very good and the air conditioner didn't work, but they had someone fix it and the room eventually smelled a bit better. Enjoyed time spent staying here.”

• It was close to Six Flags Great America.
• We stayed for three days and our room did not get cleaned. Also, they supposedly had a workout room but the two machines they had in there were broken.

• The beds were comfortable and I liked the later check out time.
• It is old and outdated; old furniture; old bathrooms; old carpeting.

“We arrived at 5:00 PM and we were told our room was "dirty". It would have been more appropriate to say that housekeeping was still working on it despite the fact that check-in time was 4:00 PM. We had difficulty finding luggage carts. The hallway carpeting was horrible. It was outdated and I would look for a different hotel the next time I visit Gurnee Mills.”

• No air, broken elevator.

“Hotel was having technical difficulties, no air, broken elevators. Had to change rooms at 10:30 PM. It was not a good experience.”

“For the price, the hotel is over-rated. Walls are dirty, furniture scuffed and worn, carpet need replacement. I wouldn't stay here again.”

• Pleasant staff.
• Sofa bed was a horror! The bed from a really bad place!

“The room was so damp, the floor was wet. As was window. The sofa bed was awful. Poor teenager who had to sleep on it needs to have her back adjusted. Kids running in hall and banging doors made it impossible to sleep.”

• The lobby was very upscale looking.
• You can hear people talking in the hall and shutting their doors loud and clear.

“Our stay was okay. I guess I wouldn't put the blame on the people working there, but the inconsiderate people staying there. They'd open their door as wide as they could and then let it slam on the lock so it just made a loud noise at like 6 am which keeps going until about 7 am then the housekeepers would do the same at around 9 am. You could easily hear people talking down the hall which was very obnoxious when it's 6:30 am and then you could hear people talking down in the lobby at midnight or later.”

“I would recommend staying at this Holiday Inn. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Even though it is not fancy and has the basic amenities, it is a comfortable place to stay and it is close to everything that you would need (restaurants, mall, entertainment, naval base, etc)”

“Overall, experience was wonderful. Due to spouses allergies our time would of been even more enjoyable if we were not in a room previous smoked in. The hotel would not give us the option to switch.”

“The hotel staff was ruder than rude. We showed up a little before check in to see if we could get a room earlier, I was not feeling well. They said no and not to come back before the check in time of 4pm. We sat in the lobby near the bathroom incase I needed it and watched 3 other families show up early and get into their room no questions asked. 2 of them were just a husband and wife. After 2 hours my husband went back and asked again. They once again said no and said not to come back before 4. He asked to talk to a manager and what do you know, a room became available!”

“I was happy about the location but very disappointed with the quality of the room. It was not clean; the TV did not come in clear. The bathroom light was out so I went to the front desk and asked them to replace it during the day while we were gone. It never was replaced.”

• The location to the Mall and the amusement park were awesome!
• We felt insulted when we were given two drink coupons & $1.00 off breakfast buffet. For having no air conditioning the first night of our stay.

“We enjoyed the convenience of having the mall and amusement park so close. We only wish that when we politely explained that our air had not worked the first night and that it was still not working at 3:00 the next day, that we had had our room instead of being sent the 2 drinks free in the lounge and $1.00 off the breakfast buffet. The service technician who came to our room was great he found the problem. The only bad thing is that we had to move all of our stuff to another room. A bit inconvenient and almost insulting to think that the drinks and $1.00 off should be an acceptable compensation for an evening of uncomfortable sleeping conditions and relocation time to another room.”

• Close to shopping & amusement park & indoor pool.
• Room very smelly, hall dirty, basic cable out, bath moldy.

“Room was very, very smelly & odor was unsuccessfully masked with some sort of spray. Carpets stained. Basic cable channels did not work. Lost power in half the room & they ran extension cords to fix. Curtains broken. Mold in tub and other locations in bath. Card reader access to side door by room did not function. Breakfast in hotel restaurant was mediocre at best and included moldy strawberries!”

• Good location is trip is for shopping Outlet Mall directly across the road.
• Considering, the cost compared to others did not find more value than would have been at lower cost hotel.

“Rooms were clean and freshened each day, staff was friendly and courteous, if your trips main purpose is Outlet shopping then the location is great but found it out of the way to some of the great Chicago attractions (approximately 55 minutes from Navy Pier or the Magnificent Mile) found that the lobby was a great first impression of the hotel but that impression was lost when you entered the hallway to the room, they are in major need of upgrading or sprucing up and definitely takes away from first impression but nevertheless the rooms were clean and comfortable.”

• Access to Six Flags Amusement Park.
• Clerk at check in was no helpful and would not accommodate a simple request.

“The hotel was fine, but an option should be given as to whether one bed or 2. It does not always work out that parties traveling together sleep in the same bed. The hotel clerk was very unyielding in her stance on no option and this really soured my experience there.”
