“This was probably a nice hotel 40 years ago. It is filled with antiques and brocade fabrics. When I entered my room there was a gum wrapper on the floor in front of the sink. Granted, it wasn't a toe nail or anything disgusting, but still it was obvious. The TV was old and the picture sputtered in and out. The valet parking was not clearly marked. I later figured out that I needed to turn the wrong way on a one-way street to enter the underground parking where the valet is located. Also upon checking out, the valet driver pulled my car up pretty far away and did not help me with my bags. He just asked if I needed directions and walked away. No tip for you.”

“Great for a romantic or business getaway. Downtown, heard a lot of late night noise, nothing overpowering though from the 9th floor.”

“Very nice old style hotel with a good restaurant and very comfortable beds. Lacking a swimming pool or spa is a negative.”

“Excellent hotel, wonderful staff . However, there was an additional "facilities fee" which we did not have an opportunity to opt out of .”

“The room was beautiful, the staff was courteous and helpful, the location was excellent. My only beef is with paying for services I did not use (15 dollar per day fee for Internet and bottled water-- neither of which I needed or used). I understand that parking in the city is expensive, but most hotels at least offer a "self-park" option so you can save a little money. This one was valet-parking only. But oh, the room was beautiful with a fantastic shower in the large bathroom, a small balcony, and large sliding doors with a gorgeous view of the city.”

“Overall, I think this should be rated as a 3 star hotel instead of 4.”

“
Very elegant hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms are large and comfortable. Turn down service. Use of business center great for checking in for flights and printing off boarding passes. Rooms sharing a common foyer are not soundproof, we had a couple who came in late after an evening of drinking and were talking loud and banging doors closed. Hint: a little weatherstripping around the doors might help. Pool is being built as well as a spa center which will add to the appeal of this hotel.

“It is an older hotel with lots of character and a beautiful lobby. However, since it is old there were some issues with our shower/tub draining slowly and a few stains on the carpet in our room.”

“Overall had a great experience. Cost of parking and resort fee added 35% to room price. I had read reviews and expected it, but I wish they would simply build the resort fee to the room price since it is a mandatory fee.”

“Good Victorian decorations, overall dissatisfied by comfort, everything was old, worn out and rude staff. Would never stay there again.”

“Good location, good service. Staff seems friendly. Parking is very expensive and there is a $20/day hotel fee.”

“Staff was very unfriendly. Resort fee of $15 per day was charged in addition making the total cost higher than one would pay when making reservation via hotel's web site. The "resort fee" was for such a basic services as use of fitness room, which was very small and basic.”

“The hotel was very charming, but that was overshadowed by the surprise extra charges upon arrival. We were charged $15/day extra for services such as Internet/ice/etc. none of which we used. There was an additional $35/day parking fee. At least the mandatory $15 service charge should be included in the initial price, not a surprise upon arrival. It is very underhanded practice for a so-called upscale hotel.”
